Abstract
Recently, the zero-bias trans-inductor voltage regulator (ZB-TLVR) was introduced to power high-performance processors for AI and cloud computing applications with superior transient performance and the potential for better power density and efficiency. This paper proposes a constant-on-time (COT) control algorithm for ZB-TLVR. A current-balance loop and ramp compensation were developed to address the challenges related to interleaving and phase current balancing. An 8-phase ZB-TLVR test platform was built, and the test results verified the performance of the proposed control approach.
