Abstract

In order to study the effect of the shape of vertical baffle perforation on liquid sloshing characteristics, a complete and precise experimental system is designed, and 1240 experimental cases under varied excitation frequencies and amplitudes are systematically investigated. The wave amplitude response and the peak pressure responses for liquid in a tank without baffle and three tanks with baffles of different perforation shapes are thoroughly explored. By analyzing the time history of both the free surface displacement and impact pressure, along with the waveform snapshot analysis, it is concluded that the addition of baffles can effectively reduce sloshing, but the reduction effect on the excitation frequency near the third mode natural frequency is much smaller than that of the first mode, and there is no obvious difference between the reduction effects of the perforation shapes of vertical baffles on the overall liquid sloshing characteristic in the rectangular tank.
