Leaky Wave Antenna on a Half-Mode Integrated Digitated Capacitor-based Corrugated Substrate Integrated Waveguide with Tilted Vertical Slots

Abstract
The paper presents a new tilted vertical slot array antenna on a half-mode integrated-digitated capacitor based corrugated substrate integrated waveguide (HM-IDC-CSIW). The half-mode waveguide is demonstrated to operate as a standard corrugated SIW. The antenna is then shown to operate at a frequency band of 30 – 40 GHz. Its performance is analyzed with change in tilt angle of the slot. The antenna is shown to have a beam-scanning range of 60° with an approximately constant gain of 14 dBi and efficiency > 80%. Such planar antennas being via-free are flexible, and hence are suitable for several conformal applications such as body area networks, telecommunications, and on-body sensing.
