GdBCO bulk superconducting helical undulator for x-ray free-electron lasers

Abstract
A superconducting helical undulator prototype reaches magnetic fields as high as 2.5 T during its tests in a stream of 10 K He gas. REBCO bulk high-temperature superconductors, organized in a staggered array geometry, are key to this result.
