Abstract
Herein, novel green synthetic routes to 4-hydroxy-2-cyclopentenone (HCP) and 2-cyclopentenone (CPE) from biomass-derived furfuryl alcohol <italic>via</italic> double-metal cyanide catalysis are proposed.
