Failure of Topological Invariants in Strongly Correlated Matter

Abstract
When zeros appear in the Green's function, as in strongly correlated systems, the invariant ${N}_{3}$ for the two-dimensional quantum anomalous Hall insulator does not necessarily encode a topological invariant of the ground state, in contrast to expectations.
