Abstract
Half-lantern binuclear Pt(II) complexes bearing two heteroleptic cyclometalated 2-phenylpyridine ligands were synthesized and characterized for the first time. Heteroleptic cyclometalation is favorable for achieving an asymmetric charge distribution and for tuning optical properties. The maximum emission wavelength of the heteroleptic cyclometalated complexes is approximately half the sum of those of the corresponding homoleptic cyclometalated complexes. Moreover, their metal-induced planar chirality can be self-sorted by chiral soft-bridged thiolate ligands with a diastereoselectivity exceeding 99%.
