Power Loss Minimization of RDN's with Network Reconfiguration and Capacitor

Abstract

The optimal placement of shunt capacitor and network reconfiguration plays vital role in minimizing power loss with enrichment of the voltage profile. It will also help to reduce the burden on the existing electrical infrastructure accelerating efficient operation of the network with reduction in emission of the green houses gases. In this paper, the exhaustive load flow analysis is carried out with an objective minimizing the power loss with improvement of the voltage profile by solving network reconfiguration in presence of shunt capacitor placement in the network. The method has been tested on practical distribution network, considering three different scenarios. The obtained results are adequate in terms of power saving and enhancement of the voltage profile without breaching the voltage limits.
