Abstract
The improvement of Cyber-Physical-Systems and the incorporation of Information and Communication Technologies into the traditional power systems led to development of Smart Grid technology. These Cyber-Physical Smart Grid systems are critical infrastructures with complex architecture and diverse devices. These huge systems are prone to cyber attacks, that may lead to potential hazards which incur huge economy loss. Thoughplenty of cyber threats are feasible in smart grid, Distributed Denial of Service is one of the prominent threats that ought to be addressed. This paper comprehensively reviews the state-of-art techniques that addresses simulation, detection and mitigation mechanisms for Distributed Denial of Service attack that threatens the availability of Advanced Metering Infrastructure.
