Abstract

Difficulty in presenting mathematical ideas in making mathematical equations or drawing graphs of a problem that will hinder students in determining the solution to a given mathematical problem. This study aims to analyze students' mathematical representation abilities in terms of self-confidence in Statistics material. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The research was conducted in Talagasari Village with 8 students of class VIII SMP/MTs as the research subject. The research instrument is a mathematical representation ability test, interviews, and questionnaires. Data analysis techniques are carried out by reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that students' mathematical representation abilities were divided into 3 categories, namely those with high, medium, and low mathematical representation abilities. This study concludes that the level of self-confidence affects the level of students' mathematical representation abilities.
