A Systematic Review of 5G Opportunities, Architecture and Challenges

Abstract
It is now widely accepted that telecommunications advancement will boost the economy in numerous ways. Therefore, continuous advancement in this field is important to keep up with the emerging challenges of the modernized world. 5G or 5th generation mobile communication has already taken place in major countries including China, UK, USA, India, Germany, and others. With the growing demand of the connected community, it is therefore critical to understand the structure and the challenges which need utmost attention to effectively evaluate the true potential of 5G. This paper provides key concepts of 5G and contextualizes its application along with architecture. Application of 5G include, but are not limited to mitigation of natural disaster, robust manufacturing industry, advanced real estate, smart urban mobility, healthcare, education, hard hit due to covid-19 Pandemic; tourism industry, sustainable agriculture, etc. This chapter also provides a detailed explanation of 5G architecture i.e on Standalone and non-standalone architecture. We conclude by highlighting major challenges to the implementation and maintenance of 5G technology in current circumstances.
