Established in 1951, the International Academy for Production Engineering-College International pour la Recherche en Productique (CIRP)-stands as the preeminent authority in production engineering, comprising approximately 600 distinguished academics and industry leaders worldwide.Headquartered in Paris, France, this institution has consistently driven advancements at the intersection of academia and industry.On August 19, 2024, Fengzhou Fang, the then President of CIRP, delivered the Presidential Address at the 73rd CIRP General Assembly, unveiling a transformative vision for Manufacturing III-The New Times of Disruptive Development of Manufacturing Technology, which offers profound insights into the intersection of ancient wisdom and modern manufacturing innovation.As we stand at the dawn of a new era in manufacturing, this address calls for action from researchers, industry professionals, and relevant policymakers to embrace innovation, foster collaboration, and leverage ancient wisdom to shape a future of more smart, agile, and sustainable manufacturing.
