Significant enhancement in the birefringence of metal phosphite halides <i>via</i> the introduction of π-conjugated cations

Abstract
Two organic–inorganic hybrid zinc phosphite halides demonstrate that replacing non-π-conjugated piperazine with π-conjugated 4-aminopyridine enhances birefringence by 37.8 times to 0.378@546 nm.
