Coupling Risk Assessment Method of Accident Causative Factors in Building Construction

Abstract
Safety risk during building construction is constantly in a dynamic state. Even though the risk value of the same accident causative factors varies across different projects, it also differs at various construction stages within the same project. To address this issue, a coupling risk assessment method for accident causative factors in building construction is proposed. A total of 1,111 accident investigation reports from building construction projects were collected, and 93 accident causative factors across five categories were extracted using grounded theory. Based on this, a coupling network model of accident causative factors in building construction was developed, and key accident causative factors were identified through various topological parameters. By incorporating topological parameters into the risk matrix and considering risk likelihood, severity, and coupling comprehensively, a coupling risk assessment method for accident causative factors in building construction was developed. This method was applied to an actual project, and the results showed that the risk values of the same accident causative factors at different stages are dynamic, reflecting the dynamic nature of risk to a certain extent. The risk values of accident causative factors in each major construction stage were summed up, and the risk levels in descending order were found to be main structure engineering risk, foundation engineering risk, roof engineering risk, and decoration engineering risk. These differences are attributed to the distinct characteristics of each construction stage. The research findings provide significant theoretical reference for building construction risk management.
