Cefiderocol and the Need for Higher-Quality Evidence: Methods Matter for Patients

Abstract
Falcone et al. (1) raise important questions regarding the role of cefiderocol in managing carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CRAB) infections. The authors note the randomized controlled CREDIBLE-CR trial (RCT) that demonstrated increased mortality with cefiderocol, including a 31% numerical increase with CRAB infections (2). However, can a retrospective observational study validly address these questions?
