Hybrid-type synchronization transitions: Where incipient oscillations, scale-free avalanches, and bistability live together

Abstract
This paper analyzes what type of phase transitions from synchronous to asynchronous phases are able to exhibit concomitantly scale-free avalanches of synchronized activity right at their critical point, discussing the possible relevance of them in neuroscience.
