Abstract
Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a major health problem that is associated with both increased morbidity and mortality worldwide. Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) are two interrelated conditions within the VTE spectrum with a risk of recurrence and fatal consequences if left untreated. 2] aking into account the significant healthcare burden due to DVT with many cases going undetected, we must create awareness among the general public about the symptoms and associated clinical presentations in order to make an early diagnosis and provide appropriate DVT management. With an aim to educate, prevent, discover, and timely treat DVT, 'DVT awareness month' is observed in March each year with recognition from US government in 2005.
