Abstract
Atom-cluster catalysts decouple iodine intermediate adsorption, redirecting reduction from a high-energy *I 5 pathway to a low-barrier *I 3 route, which enables a long-life Zn–I 2 pouch cell at an ultrahigh loading of ∼30 mg cm −2 .
