Abstract

The LoRaWAN technology specification ensures perfect interoperability between IoT devices without the need for complex local implementations. In addition, it enables the deployment of energy efficient long-range networks with low power consumption. Also, the relatively low cost of solutions based on LoRaWAN standard is also very often a determining factor when choosing a technology for organizing a machine-to-machine communication (M2M) network. However, the mathematical modelling of such systems is quite new direction and there are no concrete results in this field yet. In this paper, the mathematical model of LoRaWAN cell is studied. It appeared as a result of the analysis of the information transmission process in cellular mobile networks, optimized for data transmission. Among them, for example, there are CDMA2000 1xEV-DO standard and its 3GPP analogue of HSDPA. This model allows us to take into account such important LoRaWAN feature like ADR mechanism. The article provides formulas for estimating the main characteristics of the model. The performed numerical experiments confirm the possibility of using the considered methods for the analysis and planning of LoRaWAN networks
