Abstract
Over the past decades, researchers have paid a lot of attention to hardware security, especially in the Internet of Things (IoT) field. As a result, lots of security approaches have been proposed in the literature to safeguard IoT devices. However, there is still much ambiguity in defining the term "hardware security." This paper has attempted to describe the term "hardware security", and identified and described four common attacks encountered in this growing hardware security field with figures. Moreover, it is crucial to be aware of various security challenges and solutions to tackle emerging hardware attacks in the IoT field; for this reason, this study discusses and presents state-of-the-art hardware security approaches recently proposed by the researcher and also includes a comparison table. We also have identified several hardware security challenges in this work.
