Abstract

The world is changing its demand regularly for replacing the material used in any developed product to make it more robust and users friendly. Single natural fibre or single synthetic fibre used as a reinforcement in composites offer some issues like less durability, less mechanical strength, and high cost. These demerits can be eliminated by using hybrid composites. In the present study, hybrid fibre-reinforced composites were fabricated by using basalt fibre and e-glass fibre as reinforcement and isophthalic polyester resin as a matrix material. Drilling investigations have been made on the nominated composite samples by changing input factors (stacking sequence, tool geometry, speed and feed) and three responses namely thrust force (TF), delamination at top surface (DFentry) and delamination at bottom surface (DFexit) were analysed. Design of experiment (DOE) used for combination detail and ANOVA employed to find out the most influence and percentage contribution of machining parameter. Grey Relational Analysis (GRA) carried out to get optimal results.
