Abstract
There is an increasing demand for diagnostic techniques capable of label-free, noninvasive and early detection of cancer. In this work, an overview of the technological advancements in the terahertz (THz) technology towards miniaturized and optimized compact THz systems is presented. We focus on THz radiation generation and detection, THz techniques and their biomedical applications for cancer detection. The scope for future studies is envisaged by identifying challenges associated with THz technology and proposing the integration of THz systems with artificial intelligence (AI), internet-of-things (IoT), cloud computing, big data analytics etc. for more sophisticated systems.
