Abstract
Extraintestinal pathogenic Escherichia coli (ExPEC) strains constitute a serious and emerging clinical problem, as they cause a variety of infections and are usually highly antibiotic resistant. Many ExPEC strains are capable of evading the bactericidal effects of serum and causing sepsis.
