Long-term maintenance of weight loss
Patrick M. O’Neil
Abstract
Obesity is increasingly recognised as a chronic, relapsing disease. Lost weight is very frequently reclaimed, despite scores of trials of potential methods for improving maintenance. These trials typically include intensive lifestyle change, weight loss and maintenance interventions offered in professional settings, and follow-up assessment periods usually not exceeding 2 years.
