Abstract
In this letter, we propose a two-dimensional vector vibration sensor based on Fabry-Perot interferometer (FPI) inscribed by femtosecond laser in a multicore fiber (MCF). Owing to the special spatial distribution of MCF cores, the sensor enables the orientation identification of two-dimensional vibration. The vibration sensor has an acceleration sensitivity of 0.1 V/g. Moreover, the operating frequency and sensitivity of the sensor can be varied by adjusting the length of the optical fiber and the weight of the load. These characteristics allow the sensor to be used in many vibration measurement applications.
