Abstract
According to the calculations of the International Energy Agency (IEA), in 2022, a record growth in the share of RES is planned in the world - up to 320 GW of new capacities. The governments of most countries increasingly understand the growing role of renewable energy sources (RES) in ensuring energy security. Russia's attack on Ukraine led to an unprecedented global energy crisis. To protect consumers from rising energy prices, many countries are trying to reduce dependence on russian energy resources by implementing a policy of accelerated transition to carbon-free technologies. The transition to RES provides great potential for reducing prices and dependence on fossil fuels in the short and long term. The article considers such issues as the determination of causes of the energy crisis, an overview of the situation about RES in the world, analyze development prospects of RES in the world and the impact of the war on the development of green energy in Ukraine.
