Abstract

The morphology and distribution of Microsphecia brosiformis (Hübner, 1813) on the Crimean Peninsula are described and illustrated. Most of the collected specimens were obtained by using synthetic sex pheromones. This species is found in all three administrative-territorial units of the Crimean Peninsula, namely the Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol’ and the Genichesk District of the Kherson Region. M. brosiformis was found in 55 localities, including those noted in literature and Internet resources. This species is recorded for the city of Sevastopol’ and the Kherson Region of Russia for the first time. Among the collected specimens, there is one male, which should be considered the smallest among all representatives of the family Sesiidae.
