Abstract

Wind power is an eminent energy source for power generation in present scenario. The wind energy system is continuously bringing new technologies and ideas. The main focus of this paper is on modelling of wind turbine generator of conventional type and the latest trends, which is going on in current situation. The problems of conventional Wind Turbine Generator have been discoursed in this paper. Comparative study along with advantages and disadvantages of conventional wind turbine and latest wind turbine generator has been done. The concepts of Switched Reluctance Generator (SRG), Brushless Doubly-fed Reluctance Generator (BDFRG) and Brushless Doubly-fed Induction Generator (BDFIG) are discussed here. The problems of conventional Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) can be overcome by using the hybridization of wind generators.
