Probing metal-dependent G-quadruplexes using the intrinsic fluorescence of DNA

Abstract
The intrinsic fluorescence of a few G-quadruplex forming DNAs was quenched by Pb 2+ but enhanced up to 9-fold by K + . Such fluorescence change allowed label-free monitoring of metal binding kinetics, displacement and selectivity.
