Abstract
Healthcare professionals face numerous challenges and multiple\nstressors in their practice – such as time constraints, inadequate\nsupport, and exposure to trauma, morbidity, and mortality. Such\nstressors seem to be worsening, particularly in an environment of\ninternational pandemic, and few healthcare environments can be\nconsistently described as predictable, well-funded, and calm. Consequently,\nthe importance of protecting staff against burnout and\nbuilding workplace resilience has received increasing attention.\nHealthcare professionals commonly work with limited resources\nand inadequate support, impeding their capacity to deliver the care\nthey aspire to provide. This can culminate in burnout, secondary\ntraumatic stress, and compassion fatigue, a state that is uncommon\namong the general population but all too common in healthcare professionals.
