Abstract

The spatial and temporal diversification of cropping systems is a way to reduce the dependency of 14 agricultural systems on synthetic inputs and limit their environmental impacts by promoting the 15 expression of ecosystem services (Tamburini et al. 2020; Kremen et al. 2012). The options to 16 diversify cropping systems are numerous going through the diversification of crop rotations with 17 legumes and other crops, the association of species with intercropping (with annual or perennial 18 crops), agroforestry and the introduction of multiservice cover crops during fallow periods (Hufnagel 19 et al. 2020
