Abstract

The Internet of Things (IoT) represents a novel category of Internet applications that enables worldwide dissemination of information. Facilitating data sharing relies heavily on antennas for transmitting and receiving information. Whereas, the demand for high-frequency communication systems has driven the need for compact and efficient antenna designs. This research presents the design and analysis of a corner notched single patch antenna at Super High Frequency (SHF) bands of 5GHz and 8GHz. The proposed design aims to attain enhanced performance in terms of bandwidth, and radiation characteristics. The antenna's geometry is carefully tailored using advanced electromagnetic simulation tools and optimization techniques to ensure excellent impedance matching and radiation efficiency across both SHF bands. Key parameters, such as the corner radius, length, and width of the patch, are systematically varied to investigate their impact on antenna performance. Numerical simulations are conducted to study the radiation pattern, return loss, and gain of the extended corner notched single patch antenna. Furthermore, the fabricated antenna prototype is characterized and experimentally validated to assess its real-world performance. Detailed comparison with the simulated results is presented to validate the proposed design's accuracy and effectiveness. The results demonstrate that the extended corner notched single patch antenna achieves wideband performance with improved impedance bandwidth and gain at both 5GHz and 8GHz.
