Abstract
A novel heterogeneous catalyst was prepared by chemical attachment of iron Schiff-base complex on functionalized graphene oxide as stable support (GO–EBD/Fe). The GO–EBD/Fe catalyst was characterized by different techniques such as Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray, thermal gravimetric analysis, X-ray diffraction, N2 adsorption–desorption isotherms, and inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy. These analyses confirmed the high chemical and thermal stability of the designed catalyst. The GO–EBD/Fe was used for epoxidation of linear and cyclic alkenes giving corresponding epoxides in high yields. It could be readily reused consecutive five times without selectivity deterioration and discernible activity, displaying potential for practical applications.
