Heat transfer in a radial porous fin in the presence of magnetic field: a numerical study

Abstract

A numerical analysis of a thermal performance of radial porous fin in the existence of uniform magnetic field is carried out. The natural convection and radiation effect is also considered. The governing equation has been non-dimensionalised and solved with the help of Runge-Kutta Fehlberg fourth–fifth order method. The graphical analysis of the significant parameter is performed and physically interpreted. A comparative study is carried out with and without magnetic field effect. From this study, it is found that Hartmann number that represented the magnetic effect helps in the enhancement of heat transfer rate from the radial porous fin surface.
