Abstract

Polymeric photoluminescent nanofibers (PLNs) are appearing pretty fashionable for illuminating the world. PLNs exhibit fabulous optical properties which are potentially useful in light-emitting diodes (LEDs), white light fabric designing, high-density optical storage, and light-emitting electrochemical cells (LECs) including all-optical switching, sensors, photovoltaic devices, photodiodes, and wave-guiding. PLNs are also playing a vital role in developing Solid-state lighting (SSL) devices. These nanofibers are very fascinating and tremendously being utilized for the modern vehicle lights, building exteriors, street and parking lot lights, anti-counterfeiting, train marker lights, traffic lights and remote controls. It may be the best alternative in research and development as security and health ramification for government and public sectors, serious economic threat, businesses and consumers across the world. In the present review article, electrospinning and photoluminescence properties of various polymers with inorganic, organic and perovskite precursor materials for the solid state lighting have been compiled from the literature.
