Abstract
City logistics is undergoing a transformative shift towards sustainability and efficiency. The environmental impacts of traditional delivery methods, coupled with urbanization, have driven the investigation of alternatives, including eco-friendly transportation modes. Among these, electric cargo bikes have emerged as a promising solution to reduce carbon emissions and congestion. This article delves into this case by evaluating a delivery service using electric cargo bikes using empirical data analysis, route optimization , and simulation. The findings support the strategic integration of electric cargo bikes with urban logistics hubs, enhancing the overall efficiency of last-mile deliveries. This research contributes to sustainable urban freight transport, providing information to city authorities, logistics operators, and policymakers. By establishing a robust framework for the deployment of electric cargo bikes in medium-sized cities, the study underscores the importance of innovative and sustainable solutions in transforming urban freight systems, aligning with global sustainability goals and improving urban livability.
