Sidelink 5G-V2X for Integrated Sensing and Communication: the Impact of Resource Allocation
Stefania Bartoletti, Nicolò Decarli, Barbara M. Masini
Abstract
This paper presents an analysis of the radar sensing capability of 5G vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications in sidelink mode. The study focuses on the performance bounds on range and speed estimation with and without inter-vehicle interference. In particular, the impact of resource allocation policies on sensing performance is evaluated under different traffic conditions. The performance assessment is carried out through standard-compliant system-level simulations, and shows how the interference caused by the distributed resource allocation mechanism affects the radar sensing performance.
