Dosimetric properties of Tb-doped MgAl <sub>2</sub> O <sub>4</sub> single crystals

Abstract

Abstract The photoluminescence (PL), scintillation, and dosimetric properties of Tb-doped MgAl 2 O 4 single crystals were evaluated. In terms of PL and scintillation properties, the Tb-doped crystals showed some emission peaks ascribed to the 4f–4f transitions of the Tb 3+ ion. In addition, the optically and thermally stimulated luminescence (OSL and TSL) spectra showed emission peaks considered to be due to the Tb 3+ ion. TSL dose response functions were also evaluated, and the Tb-doped crystals showed linear responses from 0.01 mGy.
