Abstract
Abstract Methods for the direct synthesis of N-borylated amino acids have been developed. The approach used is based on the interaction of free amino acids and nitrile derivatives of the closo-decaborate and closo-dodecaborate anions. All products have been characterized by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy, IR absorption spectroscopy, and ESI mass spectrometry. The structures of two products have been determined by X-ray diffraction.
