Abstract
This article explores the design and implementation of a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) for electric vehicle battery charging. The electric vehicle is powered by solar photovoltaic cells. A modified perturb and observe (P&O) method is used to manage the boost converter that receives power from the solar photovoltaic cell (SPV), a specialised device. The enhanced P&O method incorporates a fuzzy logic controller alongside the conventional P&O method. The charging parameter, referred to as state of charging (SOC), has been measured under various solar irradiations. In addition, the voltage deviation of the battery has been measured under different levels of solar irradiation. It has been observed that utilising a fuzzy logic controller leads to the minimum state of charge (SOC) and voltage deviation.
