Controllability of AC Power Networks With DC Lines
Mohammad Pirani, Joshua A. Taylor
Abstract
We analyze the effect of DC lines on the controllability of AC power networks. We study the spectra of the controllability Gramian as a function of the addition of DC lines. We show that the trace of the controllability Gramian, which represents average controllability, is maximized when DC lines link node pairs with large effective reactance in the AC network.
