Abstract
• Axial Tube Tension (ATT) and Ring Hoop Tension (RHT) test methods were developed and used to evaluate tensile properties of Zircaloy-4 claddings with various conditions such as non-irradiated, Cr-coated, hydrided, and irradiated. • In RHT tests it was shown that the application of either PVD or cold spray chrome coatings with small (micrometer scale) thicknesses does not meaningfully affect the yield and ultimate tensile stresses in the unirradiated state.
