Abstract
Recently, researchers have paid attention to high entropy alloys (HEAs) and high entropy oxides (HEOs) because of their impressive mechanical properties, excellent corrosion resistance, extraordinary thermal stability, and tunable magnetic properties. The unique structure, core effects, and wide range of composing elements make HEAs and HEOs emerging materials for advanced functional applications. A detailed discussion on these emerging materials with their unique core effects is presented herein. Also, an overview of different synthesis methods of nanocrystalline HEAs and HEOs are discussed with their merits and demerits. The impressive mechanical, corrosion resistive, and magnetic properties are also discussed briefly. At the end of the chapter, different advanced functional applications such as electrochemical energy storage, hydrogen storage, waste water treatment, catalytic and microwave absorption applications of these materials are discussed.
