Abstract

Abstract In this review, we discuss the latest research trends related to poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO)‐based solid‐state polymer electrolytes for application in lithium‐ion batteries. First, the characteristics of PEO‐based polymer electrolytes, highlighted as the next‐generation electrolytes for batteries, are briefly introduced. Next, based on the findings reported in the recent literature, strategies to address their inherent challenges, such as low‐ionic conductivity at room temperature, concentration polarization, and poor mechanical properties, are covered. Finally, their remaining challenges and future prospects are outlined.
