Glassiness and lack of equipartition in random lasers: The common roots of ergodicity breaking in disordered and nonlinear systems

Abstract
This paper is a study of a statistical mechanics model for the interactions of light modes confined in an optically active random media. The results of numerical simulations show that the onset of random lasing is characterized by two concomitant phenomena: the breaking of ergodicity in the phase space of light modes and the breaking of equipartition in the emitted spectrum.
