Abstract
In response to the rapid evolution of the global socio-economic landscape, there arises an urgent need to explore alternative energy sources as replacements for fossil fuels. Among these alternatives, the integrated photovoltaic energy storage system, a novel energy solution combining solar energy harnessing and storage capabilities, garners significant attention compared to the traditional separated photovoltaic energy storage system. This review starts with a detailed analysis of the photoelectric conversion mechanism underlying integrated photovoltaic energy storage systems. Subsequently, a categorization of the photovoltaic active materials employed in integrated photovoltaic energy storage systems is presented, alongside a comprehensive summary of the current applications of various integrated photovoltaic energy storage systems. The findings presented in this work offer valuable insights into the future potential of next-generation integrated photovoltaic energy storage systems.
