Abstract
In this letter, a broadband polarization rotating frequency selective surface (BPR-FSS) is reported based on antenna-filter-antenna module. In the operating frequency range of 5.76-7.12GHz, the structure can convert y-polarized incidence to x-polarization and provide a low insertion loss with a minimum of 0.1dB while x-polarized incidence is fully reflected. The relative bandwidth reaches up to 21.12%. Moreover, a novel tunable BPR-FSS (TBPR-FSS) is designed by introducing a PIN diode based on the structure of BPR-FSS, which can be regarded as a BPR-FSS or a full reflector depending on the state of the introduced diode. The corresponding equivalent circuit model is constructed to analyze its tunable mechanism in detail. Good agreements can be observed between simulation and measurement.
