Abstract
While advances in multimodal therapies have helped in improving the outcome of patients with cancer of the esophagogastric junction (EGJ), current treatment strategies have become increasingly diverse. Optimal strategies vary across countries and institutions. However, in the coming years, it is important for oncologists to take a global and comprehensive view on the treatment of EGJ cancer. To meet this objective, the Upper GI Oncology Summit was organized: an international consensus meeting on EGJ cancer for establishing international clinical practice guidelines at the International Gastric Cancer Conference (IGCC) 2023.
