Abstract

[Ru(bipy) 3 ] + is a key intermediate in the chemistry of the ubiquitous [Ru(bipy) 3 ] 2+ , including in recent photoredox applications. Isolation helps to illuminate the monocation’s structure and potential roles in catalytic reactivity.
