Abstract

encounter during infection, IscR levels increase, leading to modulation of genes involved in iron metabolism, stress resistance, cell envelope remodeling, and subversion of host defenses. These data suggest that IscR senses nutritional immunity to coordinate processes important for bacterial survival within the mammalian host.
